More About This Product

About this Product

Named after the fine downy wool fibers of the Kashmir goat, and perhaps more familiar as sweaters and scarves, this paper is downright huggable. Featuring a 50% cotton fiber formulation that lends softness and class, while remaining highly printable, Kaschmir is an excellent choice for a fresh look at luxury. Kaschmir comes with two different surface treatments; cotton and cloth. The cotton finish is a soft laid effect and comes in a fresh, saturated palette of nature-inspired colors, plus white. The cloth finish is a breathtaking velvet-like finish that is both unexpected and luxurious at once. Each finish can be offset printed and offers exceptional performance in die cutting, foil stamping, and embossing. True luxury in a rich cover stock (with complementary white text) and an inviting tactile texture that begs to be touched, that's the beauty of Kaschmir. When your next project needs the delicate appeal of a softer hand, don't let predictable paper choices get your goat. Butt heads with conventional thinking and choose Kaschmir, the luxe paper that's anything but Baaaa humbug.

Gmund Kaschmir

For best possible results with offset printing, Gmund typically recommends 130 - 150 lpi line screens. In individual cases line screens of up to 200 lpi can be chosen.

When using strong colored papers for four-color reproductions it is especially important to match the lithos to the color of the paper. For offset applications with heavier areas of solid color, we recommend under-color reduction (UCR) to avoid unnecessary drying periods.

Proof printing on the actual paper stock is recommended.

Kaschmir Cotton & Cloth is generally suitable for all printing processes. However, the natural attributes of these materials require appropriate handling.

In offset printing self-oxidizing colors are recommended. Depending on the application, cotton dust may remain on the rubber cylinder. Therefore more frequent cleaning can be necessary.

To achieve optimal covering in the dents of the paper surface, the pressure between the two cylinders may be increased. For Kaschmir Cloth the pressure shall not be higher than 0.009 inches of squeeze.

An extended drying period of 48 - 72 hours has to be taken into consideration with Kaschmir Cloth. A drying period of 72 hours is required before further processing. Professional print dusting can avoid offsetting (minimum of 30 micron).

Blind embossing, die cutting and hot foil stamping accentuate especially the characteristic of these two paper surfaces. As a quality paper, Gmund Kaschmir can be very well used for bookbinding and packaging. Paper and envelopes are also suitable for handwriting.
